Welcome to the first edition of CASNotes, an editorialized cliff notes of various trade publications that cover the ECM industry. Our goal is to provide you a filtered set of research and information from various publications.

When it is possible we will make available the actual e-publication or links to the actual articles.

Our hope is that this will make you a more efficient consumer of content. Our comments and opinions are in the setoff quoted text areas.

AIIM E-Doc Magazine – Jan/Feb 2008 (Click name for full PDF)

Page 34 – Lessons from the Trenches

A couple of consultants present a technical piece on Records Management implementations and the key lifecycles that should be considered. Good content for someone just starting to formulate their organizations strategy.

Page 40 – Put a Leash on Sharepoint

One of our favorite current topics, Sharepoint. Mr. Pelz-Sharpe blows holes in the bows of the Sharepoint zealots battleship.

AIIM Expo Preview – Jan/Feb 2008

Page 12 – Focus on Capture

James Watson presents a nice high level perspective of Disconnected Scanning. This is a trend to push the capture of documents away from a centralized capture center to the knowledge workers who work directly with the transaction.

Watson is a knowledgeable veteran of the ECM industry and is worth listenting to when you get a chance to do so.

Page 64 – Around the Corner

Dan Elam shares his perspective of Sharepoint as well. Dan is always entertaining even when your in his crosshairs. We are still waiting for the complete death of microfilm which he predicted several years ago.

Until Next Time,

Ciao’
