Information Efficiency – Or Life in Information

It is an age old quest. In the early decades of the 20th century, there was a movement in the U.S. to eliminate waste and inefficiency in businesses, government agencies and society.

A lot of attention was give to reducing waste in our natural resources. New research centers–and affiliated schools–were created to find out the best way to organize business activities, provide heathcare, and protect the environment.

A century later, with a synchronized downturn affecting most of the world, the search is on for innovative ways to eliminate waste in the global information economy.

How are we going to leverage information produced by business processes to reduce environmental impact?

Are there more efficient ways to deploy IT?

What changes do we need to make in how we govern the use, distribution, and anlaysis of information?

These questions and much more are discussed in a great magazine called ON published by one of our favorite partners, EMC.
